Version 2.0 Release Notes
Leaping in to Version 2 of the Game Oracle platform means big changes! Thank you to all our subscribers for the feedback that helped guide this release in the right direction. This release is paving the way for our new, upcoming research tools.
Let's dive into the work we've done...
Data Updates
- We adjusted developer and publisher lifetime value on the game details page to exclude the game you're looking at which will help to spot outliers
- The Era of Steam that a game was published in has been added to each game for more accurate comparisons
- Tags are categorised into themes so you don't miss any in your search
- Revenue estimates are now more comparable for games that have been on the market for different lengths of time
- Improvements to Peer Rank and Saturation Score
Data Explorer Updates
- The details page for individual games has been upgraded with benchmarks, a table for similar games and more information to help indie game developers draw conclusions about a game's position in the market
- On Data Explorer, we've added even more filters including Saturation Score, SteamDB score and recommendations
- Indie games are now referred to as self-published for better transparency around Game Oracle's categorisation of developer type
- We've added a big performance boost to the search tool within the results table
General Updates
- The dashboard now has a handy toolbar containing all the Research Tools in one place for quicker access (and it reveals the next three tools that we're releasing)
- Our subscribers asked for more detail to be added to our guides so we've re-written our metric guide to dive deeper into how each one of our bespoke metrics is calculated
- We've added a guide to tags to help subscribers understand the groupings and we've greatly improved the Data Explorer guide
Bugs Fixed
- Chronology of search history
- The indie tag is no longer being assigned to non-indies
- Peer Rank is now just for released games
