Game Oracle v3 is here!

It's been many months in the making, but we're excited to announce that Version 3 of the Game Oracle platform is now live. This release is extra special because it introduces two new tools that we've been talking about internally for over a year - Saturation Map & Game Gap. They're designed to offer a whole new perspective on market analysis for the gaming industry and help indies discover their niche and make confident design decisions. In addition to these new tools we're expanding the capabilities of Data Explorer and offering many improvements for our existing customers.

We've all heard the throw away line "Steam is over-saturated" and although there is some truth to this, we don't think it is remotely helpful for game developers that are trying to build a career or business in game development. Saturation Map is here to show you where the market is saturated. Our tool provides a complete "bird's-eye" view of the marketplace with an interactive map you can explore and segment.

Game Gap - Effortless analysis of gaps in the game industry

While Saturation Map allows you to freely explore the market for under-saturated areas, Game Gap is for those who are unsure of what they want to build next or are simply open to opportunities. This research tool offers a ready-made analysis of the gaps that exist on Steam whilst accounting for critical factors that could impact an indie developer, namely historical market demand, the presence of large studio titles, market saturation, and general player sentiment. How do we do this? With our Steam Map of course! We've used statistical models to identify market segments in our Steam Map and score segments using our bespoke Gap Score. The result is an interactive report of market segments, ranked from highest opportunity to lowest opportunity, ready for you to explore.

We've introduced a bunch of improvements for our existing tools as well!

In addition to our new tools we've introduced a number of updates to help improve the experience for our existing Explore tier members:

• You can now search for individual Steam games directly from your dashboard and navigate to new games from the details page of any individual game, vastly improving the navigation experience as you explore the entire Steam catalogue.
• Data Explorer now allows you to exclude tags from your search, helping you to focus your research on the titles that are relevant to you. This even applies to title and game description search - simply name or describe the game you're interested in, specify the number of similar titles you would like to see, and specify what tags you would like excluded. 
• We've improved our title search algorithm to help deliver more reliable results when searching for similar games to your title of interest on Steam.
• Data Explorer now includes a visual breakdown of the distribution of popular tags amongst selected titles - use our interactive spider diagrams to understand the tags associated with the games you find.
• We've implemented a whole bunch of UI and performance enhancements to try and improve the general platform experience.
