Getting Started with Business Accounts

A Business account gives you, and the people you work with, everything in Game Oracle plus direct access to our data and models through the REST API and MCP server. Plug Steam market intelligence into your own dashboards, pipelines and AI assistants, and share one plan across your whole team.

This guide walks you through setting up, managing seats and invites, and creating API keys. Once you have a key, the API Documentation and MCP Server Setup guides take it from there.

What’s included

  • Your own seat with unlimited access to every research tool: Data Explorer, Steam Map, Game Gap, Concept Compass, the directories and full game, studio and feature reports.
  • API and MCP access to search, game reports, Game Gap market segments, outliers and Concept Compass.
  • Additional seats for teammates, from 0 up to 20, each billed per month (or per year on yearly billing).
  • A shared API allowance of 10,000 requests per month across the whole account. Each API key is limited to 60 requests per minute. Unused requests don’t roll over.

Business accounts are covered by our Business Terms.

Solo developer?

A Business account works just as well for one person. Keep zero additional seats and you get your own seat plus full API and MCP access.

Setting up your account

  1. On the pricing page, click Get Business Access. If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll create one first.
  2. On Set up your Business account, use the Additional seats stepper to choose how many teammates you want to add (you can change this at any time later) and pick your currency.
  3. Check the summary, which shows the Business account price, any additional seats and your Total per month or year, then click Continue to checkout to pay securely with Stripe.
  4. After payment you’ll land on a short welcome form. Your company or studio name is shown to the teammates you invite, so it’s worth getting right.
  5. The final page lists your Next steps: inviting teammates, creating an API key and connecting an AI assistant.

If you back out of Stripe checkout, nothing is charged and your seat choice is kept, so you can pick up where you left off.

Switching from an Individual subscription

If you already have an Individual subscription, the same button takes you to Upgrade to Business. Before you confirm, you’ll see the prorated amount due today and your new recurring cost. Click Switch to Business and your Individual subscription is replaced immediately. You won’t end up with two subscriptions.

Moving back to Individual

Switching back is done from the Stripe billing portal (Manage subscription in account settings). Your teammates’ seats end when you switch, and their accounts return to the Free plan. If you upgrade again later, your team is restored.

Managing team seats

Everything to do with your team lives under Team Seats in account settings.

Adding and removing seats

  • Use + and − to change your number of additional seats. The chips show how many seats are allocated, pending and free, and the line beneath shows your new total.
  • Before anything changes, a This changes your billing panel shows the exact charge (or credit) today and your new recurring cost. Click Purchase Seats or Remove Seats to confirm, or Cancel to back out.
  • Afterwards you’ll see a receipt summarising the change, with a Billing Portal button if you’d like to view the invoice.
  • You can’t remove a seat that someone is using. If − is greyed out, free an allocated or pending seat first.

Over capacity?

If your plan ever has fewer seats than people using them (for example after re-subscribing with fewer seats), you'll see a warning. Add seats or free some so everyone keeps access.

Inviting a teammate

  1. In the seat table, click Invite on an Unallocated seat.
  2. Enter your teammate’s email address and click Send invite.
  3. We email them an invitation. You’ll also see a link you can copy and send yourself. It’s only shown once and expires after 7 days.

Pending invites show their expiry date in the table. Click Cancel invite to withdraw one; the link stops working and the seat is free again.

Revoking a seat

Click Revoke on an Allocated seat to remove someone from the team. They lose access straight away, their API keys stop working, and their account returns to the Free plan. The seat stays on your plan, ready to invite someone else.

Renaming your team

Your team’s name is your Company Name in account settings. Update it there and click Update Details.

Joining a team

When someone invites you, you’ll get an email with a link.

  • New to Game Oracle? Click Create your account. Your email is filled in for you and your seat is claimed as soon as your account is created.
  • Already have an account? Click Log in to accept, then click Join followed by the team’s name on the next page. Your existing account is upgraded and billing is handled by the account owner.

A few things can stop an invite going through:

  • You’re signed in with a different email. Use Switch account and sign in with the invited address.
  • You already pay for an Individual subscription. Cancel it first from Manage subscription in account settings, then accept the invite.
  • You’re already on a team. Each account can hold one seat at a time.

What your seat includes

As a team member you get full access to every research tool plus your own API keys, which share the team’s monthly allowance. There’s nothing for you to pay or manage: account settings shows who manages billing for your team.

If your seat is revoked, or the owner’s subscription ends, your account returns to the Free plan. To leave a team, ask the owner to free your seat. Deleting your account also frees your seat for the owner to reuse.

API keys

Every member of a Business account, owner included, can create their own API keys from the Business API section of account settings.

  1. Under Create New Key, give the key a Label (for example “Production Key”) so you can recognise it later.
  2. Choose its Scopes. All are ticked by default:
    • search:read: search the games catalogue by title, description, image or attributes
    • games:read: game reports, including batch report jobs
    • gaps:read: Game Gap segment search and segment reports, including batch jobs
    • outliers:read: outlier leaderboards
    • concepts:write: create and update Concept Compass projects
  3. Click Create Key and copy the key straight away. It won’t be shown again.

You can hold up to 5 active keys at a time. Each key lists its prefix, when it was created and last used, and its usage. Click Revoke to disable a key immediately, for example if it has been exposed.

Team usage this month shows how much of the shared 10,000-request allowance has been used. The bar turns red once you pass 90%.

Keep keys secret

Treat API keys like passwords: store them in environment variables or a secrets manager, never in client-side code or a public repository.

API jobs

Larger requests, such as batches of game or segment reports and Concept Compass projects, run as background jobs. The API Jobs panel under your keys lists them:

  • Up to 5 jobs can be queued or running at once, and finished jobs stay listed for 7 days.
  • Each job shows its type, status (Queued, Running, Completed, Partly failed, Failed or Cancelled), progress and job ID.
  • Concept Compass jobs have an Open in Concept Compass link, so you can explore the result in the app.

The panel refreshes itself while a job is running.

Connecting your tools

  • API Documentation: endpoints, authentication, request costs, rate limits and example requests.
  • MCP Server Setup: connect Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity to Game Oracle so you can ask market questions in plain English.

FAQ

Do teammates get their own API allowance?

No. Everyone on the account shares one monthly allowance of 10,000 requests, and each key has its own limit of 60 requests per minute. Some requests cost more than one unit (for example batch reports and Concept Compass projects); the API Documentation lists the exact costs.

What happens to a teammate’s API keys if I revoke their seat?

They stop working immediately. If that person rejoins later, they’ll need to create new keys.

Can I change my number of seats partway through a billing period?

Yes. Adding seats charges the prorated difference today; removing seats gives a prorated credit against your next invoice. You’ll always see the exact amounts before you confirm.

Can I be on two teams at once?

No. An account can hold one Business seat at a time. To join a different team, ask your current team’s owner to free your seat first.

Who can change billing details?

Only the account owner. Owners manage payment details, invoices and cancellation through Manage subscription in account settings. To transfer ownership, email us.

If you have any questions about using any of our tools, drop us an email at support@game-oracle.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
