Getting Started with Top Opportunities
Top Opportunities is your dashboard shortlist of market opportunities with high demand and low competition. It surfaces up to 3 strong market segments using the same cards you will recognize from Game Gap, so you can spot a promising gap without opening the full tool first.
What each card shows
Every card includes:
- Segment title and keyword chips
- A short summary
- Demand score and Uniqueness score
- Median Sales and Median Wishlists, where applicable
- Total games in the segment and % coming soon
- Warning icons for flagged segment types, when present
The warning icons (Goliath, Stampede, Achievement Farming, Cult Following, NSFW, Franchise Dominated) mean the same thing here as they do in Game Gap. See the Game Gap guide’s Segment-Type Toggles section for what each one means and how to filter them out.
How opportunities are chosen
Top Opportunities starts from the strongest segments across all of Steam, the ones combining strong demand with a genuine gap in the market. As you bookmark segments in Game Gap, save projects in Concept Compass, or build up a search history in Data Explorer, your shortlist increasingly reflects that research instead.
Bookmarking is not available directly from this dashboard card. Open a segment to bookmark it from within Game Gap; it will then appear under Your Bookmarks on your dashboard.
Opening an opportunity
Click a card to open its full segment page in Game Gap, where you get the complete picture: player sentiment, warnings, composition, performance, the Building Blocks features common in that niche, and the full game table for that segment.
Free vs subscriber access
Free accounts see one opportunity clearly. The rest of the lineup fades behind an “Upgrade to unlock your Top Opportunities” prompt that unlocks a personalised feed ranked against your bookmarks, concepts, and Data Explorer history.
FAQ
I don’t see any opportunities yet, what do I do?
Start bookmarking a few segments in Game Gap to build a personalised feed. Until then, Top Opportunities falls back to the strongest segments across Steam.
What decides the ranking?
The same combination of strong demand and market uniqueness that ranks segments in Game Gap’s default “Top Picks” order.
